So I'm 24 today.
I'm still alive, happy, and warm down in AZ. I'm actually living in Phoenix proper now with the hubby (Shawn) and I have my 2 year visa. Working on my adjustment of status to a permanent resident, but aparently we have to resubmit the taxes/proof of income because they want this years stuff, not last years.
Jeremy loves it down here, it's never cold, and he has a window behind my desk to lay in and still be close enough for constant snuggles, and though Maximus doesn't like going outside for long, he never did and with his fur/the heat I understand.
I've put on a little weight (20lbs) due to not working, but our apartment complex actually has a fitness center (imagine that) and so I'm starting to try and go do the recumberant (sp?) bike 3 times a week to get back into shape. Hopefully I'll be able to get the work autorization soon so I can start working again too. They said 90 days, but they also said 6-9 months to get my visa, so I'm skeptical.
Hope all you guys who still bother reading this are doing well, I am, and just to let you know I still read LJ every morning, I just never post anything because I'm not really doing anything of interest.
Luvs you all, and happy Earth Day.

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

So Shawn took me to a Jonathan Coulton ( www.jonathancoulton.com ) show in Phoenix on Thursday, meaning the parents babysat the kittens for a couple hours so I could go. It was really awesome and I got some nice shirts and merc. I got autographs from Paul & Storm ( www.paulandstorm.com ), his opening act, and a picture with Joco.

In kitten news they are doing good and growing (but they made a mess last night so they'll probably receive their first bath today). They've doubled their birth weight in the first week so they're still on schedule, and the calico has decided she is alpha cat and going to cry constantly even though there is nothing wrong. She's the smallest though so I think thats where some of her food is going as the other two are five ounces and she's just over four.
And the little grey one has learned to purr, which s/he does whenever fed. It's adorable, and I'll be getting more photos when they're eyes open, though I'm not sure how yet due to the light sensetivity when they first open their eyes.

I am now a Mother...of kittens.

tired
So a guy that Hubby and his brother work with had a stray come into his house and have kittens on Mothers day (at 8-9ish pm). Ben is his name. Ben let the cat start have kittens, and moved them and the mother to some towels under the sink. Two were born fine, the one feeble (didn't survive until I got there to check on it) and a stillborn one. After that the mother seemed really tired (since she was too tired to chew the umbilical cord off the second one and didn't do anything with the next two) so I didn't think she had any other kittens left in her. We went home planning on coming back and checking on her in the morning. Then she had one more living kitten while we were gone.
Well, when we got back in the morning the mother took one look at us and split. I don't think she was coming back, and I couldn't just leave the kittens there hoping she would as Ben had left town for an important meeting in LA. So I grabbed a box and a towel and now I've got three kittens that think of me as mother.
I don't know any of the Fosters or the SPCA that currently have any queens that just had kittens within the last day or two so there is no surrogate mother available, so I'm really glad I've helped birth puppies and helped with bottle feeding them before so I have some experience.
Kittens are now on "Just Born" kitten milk replacement. I've had them for 24 hours now, and they seem to be doing good. They are eating regularly now, going to the bathroom without issue, and sleeping like they are supposed to. They are also on schedule with weight from yesterday (up half an ounce, making each kitten a mighty 2-2.5 ounces).
Unfortunately this means I got almost no sleep last night because I was woken up every two hours to feed the babies.
Pictures will follow, I promise.

Arrival
Apr. 7th, 2008 | 02:34 pm
So we should be arriving in Ottawa at 3:20pm on Monday (next monday, April 14th). From there it seems we'll be renting a car, dropping off stuff, and going to get some food (as we leave at 6:00am).
First Planned Foodening:
Where: Sushi Kan (1440 Merivale Road, Nepean, ON)
When: As soon as we can get there, probably 4:30-5:00pm
Second Planned Foodening:
Where: Pho Bo Ga 2 (843 Somerset St W, Ottawa, ON)
When: 9:00 pm
We may be going to ESD sometime during the night as well, as Shawn really wants to try their poutine, since I've been raving about it. I'm also going to need to shore up my supplies of curds and maple products, as I've been sorely lacking.
So far I don't have anything planned for day two, other then wanting to go to Curries sometime during the day, and Shawn might want to go to Phods that night. We probably won't be up late on Tuesday since we need to leave so early in the morning on Wednesday to drive to Halifax.
Unfortunately it looks like puppy wont be coming with for this trip, there is just too much stuff we would need to do, and things that we don't know about, and I don't want him to get left behind again as it was way to hard on both of us last time.

Update

The weather in AZ is crazy...it's already around 30 out every day.
In other news I started excersizing today. I joined up at curves (for the accountability) and I'm gonna try and lose some of my winter weight and get back into shape. I kinda wanted to join a gym with Shawn (cause he's been making the same complaints I have) but he's not ready for it, and I like the atmosphere there.
In Other other news, we've bought the plane tickets, we'll be back in Ottawa the afternoon of the 14th (of April), staying in town for the 15th, and leaving for Halifax early morning of the 16th. On the way back we should be back in town on the 23rd (late at night probably) in town for the 24th, and back to AZ early afternoon of the 25th.

LJ Strike! Re-listed from all over.
Mar. 20th, 2008 | 02:07 am
mood:
not impressed
(This is a good chance to try out those alternative lj services if you are considering switching.)
For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours.
That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who makeup LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run.
The strike is only a few days away,so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate,it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please:refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

What's this about?
*It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board.
*It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the sign up process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions.
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fan fiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way.Users found out for themselves.

Look, an Update!
Mar. 12th, 2008 | 09:58 pm
location: Tucson, AZ
mood:
accomplished
music: Freezepop - Jem and the Holograms Theme
Sorry guys for being so bad about not updating even though lots of stuff is going on, it seems I got my normal winter blues without any of the normal signs of winter being present (like snow, or even a sharp breeze). Starting to get more social now though, but I'm also not impressed with the winter weight I've put on, so I gotta start working my ass at swimming again to work that off. I'm gonna try and be better about updating, and being logged into gmail more so you guys can contact me and I can poke at you :)
I've got a lot of pictures to post here too so I'm gonna put each set of photos behind an LJ cut so I don't take up tons of room.
Like this one.
( I'm Livin' the Americone Dream )
The Cacti down here are Huge, most of them are between one and two storeys tall. Way bigger then our little potted ones. So far the dog has yet to try and pee on one, but I'm just waiting, because I know it'll happen. There are also Mountains in the backround surrounding Tucson on almost all sides, they're very beautiful to look at, and my two photos don't do them any justice.
( Some Cacti and Mountains )
Arizona has two different kind of geckos that live here. One is native and the other is not, but they're both super cute when you see them skittering around at night.
( Got a photo of one orange/red one and a whitish colored one )
There is also a Floral place that we drive by fairly often (because it's close to the apartment) called Roses & More, it's got a beautiful mural on the side of the building. I don't know if the owners commissioned it, or if someone just painted it and the owners leave it there, but it's very nice.
( Here is the picture, click on the link to see the full sized one )
On February 30th Maximus turned three years old, so I got him two little cans of wet food that he could pig out on. He was quite happy with this situation. I've been having quite a few issues with him since he got down here (most of which are on the mend now) so this was one of the really nice moments.
It's also nice that the Orange Table (a restaurant down here that I know the owner of) really likes Corgis and especially loves Maximus so whenever we go there we bring him and he chills on the patio with me. A lot of the people that come there also like to get in on the cute lovins from the puppy so he gets plenty of attention, which is probably why he likes it there so much.
( Puppy scarfing food )
I finally ran out of contacts, and since we had to get new ones Shawn poked me into getting a backup pair of glasses too, since my old backup pair are no longer the proper perscription. Here are some pics of the glasses themselves and me in them.
( Mah new glasses )
Shawn also found out how much I like animals, and how long it'd been since I'd been to a zoo (at least a few years before I moved to Ottawa) and though the one in Tucson is small, and nothing on the Missouri one, he brought me to the zoo to take photos of all the animals. Well, I couldn't take pictures of all the animals since at that time I didn't have a memory card in my camera, but I got pictures none the less. Makes me happy that he did something he wasn't enthused about to make me happy.
( Zoo photos )
Shawn is a huge sweety, talking about how maybe we should get a house when we get my Visa so we can live up in Phoenix closer to everyone. Since we didn't get to be together for our one month aniversary he brought me out to Olive Garden (cause I've never been) on our two month, and made me a romantic dinner for three months. I'm kinda wondering what, if anything, he'll do for four months which is just next week. His Real Estate business is going good, him and his brother and parents just made an LLC for tax benefits. Things are really taking off for them, and once I get the visa I can start helping too.
( Here is him looking cheesy on the couch with Jeremy )
Now what you've all been waiting for (who'm I kidding) When will I be back in Ottawa? It's looking like we're gonna visit mum for my birthday, so I'll be on Ottawa for a full day or so on either side of that. Right now I don't know where I'm staying, either with someone if someone volunteers, or at a Hotel if I get no volunteers. I'm looking at coming down on the 14th, staying until the morning of the 16th when we drive up to Ottawa, and probably driving back on the 23rd, so that night until the 25th maybe. That is what I'm hoping, but we'll see what we work out. The coming back is the maybe, we'll probably be flying in on the 14th.

So this is all the shit I went through getting to Arizona through United. It's kinda frank, and in point form, as this is what is getting sent to United as part of a formal complaint.

So after two days in the airport I finally made it to AZ (I'll do a full post about the atrocities later) but they wouldn't let Maximus come with me, saying I could ship him later when it was less cold. Now they are saying that they don't ship out of Ottawa, only Montreal or Toronto.
So I needs a Favor from those of you with cars. I need a Volunteer to Run the dog to probably Montreal (since it's way closer) or Toronto if you have plans on going there. THe trip will be paid for gas and your time.
Maximus travels fine (usually sleeping) and won't need to be taken out of his crate except for a quick walk at the airport before being checked in. Combined weight of him and kennel is 25lbs, and he's good with everyone and on leash (for those of you that haven't seen him in a while). I was just really looking forward to having my puppy down for Christmas cause I miss him and feel like I've abandoned him even though I've been trying everything I can to get him down here. Cause if we can't get him shipped the next option is to drive the two days back up to Ottawa to get him.

Well, since my move has been changed from a month and a half away, to a week away, I need to sell this stuff as soon as I can for most of it.
I'd love to get money for it, but I'm more concerned with it having a good home, so I'm willing to accept most offers. Unfortunately I do not currently have transportation, so everything has to be pick up only. Sorry the pictures are such crap, but I'm going off old photos, and I've lost my camera cord.

The Stuff I've been doing...
Oct. 13th, 2007 | 10:40 pm
location: Work for now...
mood:
calm
music: Endyium- Eye of the Storm
Two weeks since my last entry....well I'm getting better at least.
So October started out well, work screwed me over for my paycheck, but then Shawn came up from AZ to be my date for Kerry's wedding. Unfortunately he had issues with flights on the way up, so instead of getting here at 7pm he didn't arrive until midnight, and then got frisked by Canadian Customs officers (who looked through about a quarter of the porn on his computer before giving up). I dragged him out to Pho (which he'd never had before) and all was well.
Next day we drove down to Toronto for the wedding, decided to stay the whole weekend since I'd never been to Toronto before , just chilled friday night in the hotel since we were kinda tired, and had been on the road for five hours. Saturday saw us go to Gaming Stores (Dueling Grounds and Harry Taratula, both on Dundas st) and a wonderful all-you-can-eat Sushi place called Sushi Island. I would definately go again, and suggest people go to it. I will admit I don't know how to tell quality on sushi, but I found it wonderful, the fish/shellfish/meats were fresh, they were all handmade, the rice didn't fall apart, that kinda thing. I loved it.
Sunday was the wedding, and it was beautiful. I had a bit of social anxiety at first (since I've never really met any of Josh/Kerry's family so I didn't know any of them) but after the Ceremony I started to calm down and had a great time. Rum and I got a little better aquainted, we missed each other.
Tuesday we celebrated a late Thanksgiving with Gus, then that night went out to Phods and had a great time. Saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a while, though with my current job situation that might not be the situation for long. After Phods played some Magic and went to bed. Wednesday I dragged Shawn to the Market for the touristy thing, and I had to introduce him to Beavertails. Saw him off on his way home, and moped for the rest of the day at home.
The Last few days have been maining chilling either at home or at the neighboors, though I did get some drinking in last night and watched the animated Hellboy movie. It was good.

So the Co-op where my mum lives is trying to fuck her over, and the woman who murdered my Uncle a few years ago may get off scot free due to a Technicality...
Oh, and rather strange question, but anyone that is Not comfortable hearing sexual questions/comments please post here and I'll make up a filter... since I plan on posting more and all that :)
